    Arunachal: 1 Assam construction worker dead, 18 go missing near Indo-China border

    Digital Desk: One construction worker passed away and 18 others went missing near the Indo-China border in the Kurung Kumey area of Arunachal Pradesh, reports said.
    The labourers were engaged in road construction projects in Damin, the majority of them were from Assam.

    The incident occurred on July 5 which came to light only on Monday.

    Last week, all 19 were reported missing from the project site, and one worker's body was later found in a nearby river.

    The Border Roads Organization (BRO) hired the employees to build roads in Damin Circle, a rural location close to the Indo-China border.

    In Arunachal Pradesh, the BRO has been building a massive network of infrastructure projects along the China border.

    The Deputy Commissioner Bengia Nighee of the Kurung Kumey district said that one body was found in the Kumey river.

    Locals claimed that all of the labourers had perished in Damin's Kumey River.

    According to reports, the workers begged the contractor, Bengia Bado, to give them leave to celebrate the Eid celebration. However, when the contractor refused, the workers reportedly fled on foot but went lost in the dense Kurung Kumey district forests.

    It may be mentioned that the police official, a rescue team will be dispatched to the project site to locate the missing workers and confirm rumours that they all perished in the Kumey River.
