Assam Developing Into a Hub for "Jihadi Activities" : CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Digital Desk: According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma,
Assam has turned into a hub for "jihadi activities" after five
modules linked to the Ansarul Islam terrorist group with headquarters in
Bangladesh were discovered in the past five months.

Six Ansarul Islam members from Bangladesh had entered Assam to
indoctrinate young people, and one of them was detained when the first module
was discovered at Barpeta in March of this year, according to Mr. Sarma, who
    spoke at a press conference.

He said, "Imams from outside the state indoctrinating
Muslim kids in private madrasas is disturbing."

"Terrorist or insurgent behaviour is very different from
jihadi activity. It begins with years of indoctrination, then active support of
Islamic fanaticism, and lastly engaging in subversive acts "declared the
    chief minister.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, the Bangladeshi nationals
"who entered the state illegally" in 2016–17 ran a number of camps.

Only one of these Bangladeshis has been detained thus far,
and the man urged the populace to alert the authorities if any outsiders were
to take up positions as teachers or imams at madrasas.
