Guwahati : Creating massive crisis for the educational infrastructure for the state of Assam, the devastating floods not only ravaged lives of humans and animals, but also dashed the dreams of the children whose schools washed away in the flood.
Summer Vacations are going to get over and the new sessions are going to begin from August 1. The school administrations as well as the school kids are in great dilemma after the flood devastated most of the schools and many families staying in many schools which have been converted to relief camps.
The annual cycle of floods in the state usually coincides with the summer vacation as it starts from 1st week of June which ends in July last week and the floods in the state also occur in the same period with the onset of the monsoon season.
Teacher’s organizations have demanded the government to soon rebuild the damaged school and remunerations be handed out within three months.
The flood has not only taken lives of many people but the future of many students are now at stake as lakhs of students will not be able to attend schools as most of the schools have been turned into relief camps and many others have washed away or completely damaged in the fury of the flood.
