Digital Desk: Every month, the Assam government will pay the costs for 70 MW of power for 20 lakh people. The state recommends mitigating the financial problems of improvised families through reliable income support under the Orunodoi scheme, which has 20 lakh beneficiaries. These beneficiaries will receive Rs 1,250 per month, of which Rs 250 will be paid to the beneficiary as a power bill.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma said on this account that " Around 70 MW of power will be free for 20 lakh people. The government will transfer Rs 1250 to their accounts, and Rs 250 is meant to pay power bills. Power utility will send the bill, and accordingly, beneficiaries will pay, ".

The state increased the amount under the Orunodoi scheme, and Beneficiaries will now receive Rs 1250 per month, up from Rs 1000 earlier, the Chief Minister has said. The Rs 2,400-crore scheme initially covered family members, widows, unmarried women, divorcees and dibyang (people with disabilities).

The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved the enhanced tariff of Rs. 0.59 per unit of electricity for consumers. The chief minister said, "From August 15 this year to September 15, another 6 lakh beneficiaries will be added to the list, and those with improved economic status will be moved out".
