Chittaranjan Basumatary, Organizational Secretary of Assam Jatiya Parishad and Central Convener for BTR elections announced this while addressing a press conference in Kokrajhar on Sunday evening.
Digital Desk: The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) party will participate in the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council elections with the sole objective of resisting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). To counter the BJP, the AJP will independently field candidates in all constituencies where the BJP puts up candidates.
Chittaranjan Basumatary, Organizational Secretary of Assam Jatiya Parishad and Central Convener for BTR elections announced this while addressing a press conference in Kokrajhar on Sunday evening.
During the press conference, Chittaranjan Basumatary said that review meetings have already been conducted in Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Baksa to discuss how to participate in the elections.
Basumatary stated that AJP’s sole objective in the BTR elections is to resist the BJP and called upon opposition parties to unite on a single platform for this purpose.
He alleged that the BJP party has been treating BTR like a milch cow and conspiring to destroy the regional parties in BTR through division.
Therefore, Chittaranjan Basumatary called upon Bodo nationalism and other ethnic communities in the BTR to unite in order to resist BJP.
AJP always hopes that Bodo nationalism along with regional politics remain intact in BTR, Basumatary said.
He called upon the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) to break free from BJP in order to strengthen Bodo nationalism and ensure the true development of BTR.
