Assam MLA’s fuel allowance hiked from Rs 8 to Rs 15
While the common man is struggling to bear the rising petrol and diesel hike on everyday basis, Assam government has approved hiking fuel allowance of the Ministers and MLAs.
The Committee on Members Amenities and Facilities of Assam Assembly, headed by BJP MLA Prasanta Phukan, held a meeting at the Assam Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. In the meeting, the Committee approved of MLAs from Rs 8 to Rs 15 per kilometre, per day.
The Committee also recommended for a hike in the ‘mileage allowance for an official car on official duty’.

It may be mentioned that in the last days, the price of petrol has shot from Rs 76.73 to Rs 79.03 in the city, while the diesel price increased from Rs 68.83 to Rs 71.07, the highest in the last four years.
On the other hand, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s statements on the rising fuel prices, terming it to be a Central government issue, have been criticized across the state.
Union Minister of State for finance Shiv Pratap Shukla recently stated that the centre is “trying to find a way out.”
