Tinsukia : In a sensational incident that has sparked outrage in Tinsukia, a commando of Assam Police was stabbed to death in Makum here in the wee hours of June 3rd, 2019. Girish Dutta was brutally assaulted and repeatedly stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants.

The incident took place near the office of the 2nd Assam Police Battalion in Makum. As per the locals, Dutta was returning back home after attending the Kendriya Adhibeshan of Asom Moran Sabha and Moran Jatiya Parishad at Tingrai, Tinsukla. He hailed from Shantipur area.

Demanding immediate arrest of the culprits, the locals staged a protest at the NH-38. “Dutta was coming back home with his father when he was attacked by miscreants. The culprits attacked him with sharp weapons, even after pleading to let him go, Dutta was chased, dragged and killed. Police should arrest the culprits at the earliest,” a local said to the reporters.
A pall of gloom has descended in the region with people demanding quick arrest of the assailants who committed the crime. One of the family members said, “He was a kind person and a very energetic boy. He will not return back but his murderers should be arrested as soon as possible.”
