Assam/West Bengal : One person while another got injured after a low intensity blast in a house in Falimari village, along the Assam-West Bengal border.
The deceased have been identified as Sadek Ali Sheikh (27) who died due to the low-intensity explosion which according to neighbours occurred inside the house in the Buxirhat district of West Bengal that shares’s border with Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

“Sheikh and his friend Rafikul islam (30) a resident of the same village were according to neighbours building explosives to be used for fishing. But, due to some negligence, it went off injuring Islam,” a neighbour said.
Sheikh’s body has been taken for autopsy while Islam has been admitted to a hospital in Cooch Behar hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.

This incident soon became sensational in the entire region as just few hours after the Dhola-Sadiya killings, this low intensity blast near Assam-West Bengal took place.
Locals went into tizzy after the blast rocked the house as they assumed the blast to be the handiwork of some militant activity.

While the entire nation is condemning the Dhola-Sadiya killings where 5 people were shot dead near Brahmaputra river and 1 grievously injured by shootings carried out by some suspected militants. Though initially police suspected it to be the activity of banned outfit, ULFA-I’s handiwork but ULFA-I Chief Paresh Baruah denied the killings and has issued a mail saying ULFA-I is not at all involved in these firings.
