Digital Desk: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has directed Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi to apologize to the people of Assam for creating a ruckus in the Assam Assembly by attempting to physically assault Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi on Friday.
Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia wrote a letter to Kurmi expressing disappointment over the BJP MLA's shameful act.

Following the unprecedented chaos in the Assembly, people of Assam strongly reacted to it, condemning Kurmi's aggressive behaviour towards a legislator.
Raijor Dal supporters stormed into the streets of Sivasagar to protest against the BJP MLA's physical charge at their leader. They demanded the immediate arrest of Kurmi and burnt his effigies. The protesters demanded his ban from entering Sivasagar.
Amid the controversy, the Assam BJP stepped in and issued an order to apologize to the people of Assam for his behaviour.
Dilip Saikia in his letter wrote, "Your act of leaving your seat and rushing towards a fellow legislator has drawn the attention of people of Assam. Your conduct is contrary to the traditions of the Assembly."
"The BJP is an organization guided and nurtured by strict discipline and a unique ideological framework. We uphold patience, restraint, and when necessary, principled ideological battles as part of our ethos", the letter added.
The letter directed him to extend an additional apology to the people of Assam, as he had already expressed regret in the Assembly on Friday after the incident.
