Kokrajhar: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) declared its first list of 22 candidates for the BTC election on Monday.
The election to elect a new council will be held on April 4 next. The list includes all seven sitting members of the Council.
This includes former ABSU president and party president Pramod Boro from Goybari constituency, and a women candidate Pratibha Brahma from Baukungri constituency.
The list also includes NDFB leaders and signatories of the recent Bodo Peace Accord Gobinda Basumatary from Bhairabkunda and Ranjit Basumatary alias BR Ferenga from Chirang Duar constituency respectively.
Boro, meanwhile, remains buoyant of a UPPL sweep of the elections. It may be recalled, that at a recent party meet, he stated that the UPPL party is “organized” this time around the party leader said that the establishment of peace in the area, in accordance with the tenets put forth by the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), is the key concern. Boro also said that the region has 101 problems, and the party intends to implement all policies so that the people in the region can have access to better standards of living and more amenities such as job cards, Boro further told the media.
