Guwahati : By-elections for several assembly constituencies which remain vacant after the Lok Sabha Election 2019 will be held on October 21, 2019 as declared by the Election Commission today. The results of the elections will be declared on October 24.
In the last parliamentary elections, four sitting MLAs of Sonari, Rangapara, Jonia and Ratabari were elected to the Lok Sabha. The seats have been lying vacant since against which the by elections will be conducted to fill-up the vacant seats.
The notification of election will be issued on September 27 and the last date of the date of filing nominations is October 4. The nomination applications will be scrutinised on October 5, and the last date to withdraw nominations is October 7, 2019.
Altogether 64 constituencies which are in 18 states across the country will have by-elections by the same time. The model code of conduct will be in force in all these states as soon as the dates of by-elections are announced.
