Floods and landslides are wreaking havoc in Assam, washing away roads and railway tracks and disrupting the state's connections.
Digital Desk: Amid the heavy rain that has wrought trouble on Assam's rail connections, the Indian Railways' Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone has halted or canceled several trains.
As per the announcement by NFR Zone railways, 29 trains were canceled. The list of canceled trains or partially withdrawn due to waterlogging and landslides in several locations of the Lumding division is now updated.
In Assam, 22 trains have been canceled due to waterlogging that has damaged railway rails and severe rainfall that has caused landslides. Aside from that, several additional trains have been canceled in part.
On Thursday, North-East Frontier Railway (NEFR) issued a notice stating the list of Partially canceled trains due to waterlogging and landslides caused by heavy rain.
NEFR, in their notice, said that the services of a few more trains had been canceled or partially canceled at Km 113/4-5 between Jatinga Lumpur and New Harangajao, Km 131/1-2 between Bandarkhal and Ditokcherra sections, and other locations in the Lumding - Badarpur hill section of Lumding division.

Train No. 13173 Sealdah: The Agartala Kanchanjungha express will be shortly closed at Lumding and partially canceled between Lumding and Agartala on the 17th, 19th, and 20th of May, 2022.
Train No.13174 Agartala: Sealdah Kanchanjungha express, starting journey on 17th, 19th& 21st & 22nd May 2022, will be unavailable at Lumding and remain partially canceled between Agartala and Lumding.
Train No.13175 Sealdah: Silchar Kanchanjungha express will be partially closed at Lumding and shortly canceled between Lumding and Silchar on the 16th, 18th, and 21st of May 2022.
Train No.13176 Silchar: Sealdah Kanchanjungha express, commencing journey on 18th, 20th & 23rd May 2022 will be short originated atLumding and remain partially canceled between Silchar and Lumding.

On Wednesday, the flood situation in Assam worsened, with the number of people impacted rising to 6.62 lakh.
In the aftermath of major landslides between Maibong and Bandarkhal in Assam, NFR has already suspended train services to Tripura, south Assam, Manipur, and Mizoram until May 25, according to an official.
