If sources are to be true, then the central government is planning to hand over heritage building and many other historical monuments of Assam to a private company under the scheme “Adopt a Heritage”. The central government in the third phase of the scheme will hand over Kaziranga National Park, rang Ghar, Kareng Ghar and Shiva Dol to the JTI group.
Under the scheme “Adopt a heritage”, the process of handing over the monuments from Assam to the JTI group is almost completed within a few months the monuments will be handed over. The JTI group will be responsible for the maintenance of the sites for a period of five years.
The JTI group is North East based company wholly giving tours and travel services.
The selected heritage sites and buildings were selected on the basis of their annual tourist’s footfalls and visibility. The project entails to handover heritage sites and monuments for adoption to the private and public sector companies and individuals and they will be known as “Monument Mitras” for providing basic amenities and complete operation and maintenance (O&M) initially for the 5 years.
