The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) stated that the woman Sub-Inspector, who allegedly strip-searched a pregnant lady at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport has been transferred from screening duty to training.
The CISF also assured that the matter will be enquired thoroughly.
“CISF woman Sub-Inspector has been transferred from screening duty to training. CISF has expressed regret on the behalf of woman Sub Inspector to the complaint,” the CISF said in a statement.
The CISF also stated that they have taken cognizance of the incident.
A new Sub-Inspector was deployed for conducting the screening duty, as per reports.
The incident took place on June 24 when Shivam Sarmah and his wife Doli Goswami were at the LGBI Airport to take a flight to New Delhi.
Sarmah has alleged that a hand-held metal detector was used by the lady sub-inspector to check his 25 weeks pregnant wife despite his wife’s repeated request not to use the metal detector.
The husband further alleged that they were denied the boarding pass by the CISF staff who insisted that they should show proof of her pregnancy and asked his wife to accompany her to a room and she was forced to undress. The CISF woman officer also pushed her abdomen to check pregnancy manually, the husband alleged.
