Guwahati : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a Cabinet meeting at Janata Bhawan here on June 3rd, 2019. The Cabinet decided to reduce the minimum age for becoming a Panchayat head to 25 years from the existing age of 35 years. Further, any person having more than two children cannot be eligible to apply for the post of Gaon Burha (Village head).

The Cabinet also approved provision for eviction of encroachers from Satra land in the Assam Land & Revenue Regulation, 1886. The Cabinet decided to introduce an Act to regulate placement agencies to check human trafficking.
To safeguard the interest of youths outside the state, the cabinet decided to enact a new legislation – Assam Private Placement Agencies for Recruitment Regulation Act.
The state government has planned to raise the authorized capital in Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd of Rs 5,000 crore from the existing Rs 250 crore.
The Cabinet decided to give police form to provide ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh to armed forces and paramilitary personnel from Assam martyred outside the State. The Cabinet decided to raise the remuneration of Autonomous Council Members from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 of Chief Executive Members from Rs 16,000 to Rs 45,000.
