Kaziranga : CM Sonowal visited the Agratoli range of the World Heritage Site, Kaziranga National Park (KNP) and took stock of the preparedness by the authorities ahead of the arrival of the monsoon season.
The CM informed that the construction of 33 highlands aimed at providing shelter to animals during floods has been completed.
“We are happy to inform that the construction of 33 new highlands has been completed. Also, we have directed the officials to store food to counter an emergency like situation. The park officials have also been directed to keep veterinary doctors ready,” said Sonowal while addressing the media.
CM Sonowal directed the officials to promote the Agratoli range of the park. He urged the officials to construct a road to the highlands and further develop the Sohola Beel tourist circuit.
“We are taking steps to promote the Agratoli range so that the global visitors including the ones from the country can enjoy the beauty of the park. Sohola Beel at Agoratoli range in Kaziranga is well known for migratory birds and has the potential to be a major tourist attraction within the park. There is a need to construct a 3 Km road along with more guest houses for visitors,” Sonowal said.
