Dibrugarh: A puja pandal in the Dibrugarh district hosted a ‘DJ Night’ on the occasion of Maha Saptami showing a full display of cultural shift from ‘old’ to ‘new’. The puja pandal was turned into a dance floor and the stage was taken over by a DJ who played Electronic Dance Music (EDM).
It seems that the Gods and Goddesses are not exempted from the changing times and cultural erosion. At the venue if the DJ night, an entry fee of Rs. 500 was charged by the organizers.
After the footage went viral on social media, the act drew the anger of older generations, who fear that a time will come when cultural erosion will swipe off all the rituals and customs followed by our ancestors for generations. However, the act points rather interesting question: is it really necessary for age old traditions to be infused to newer trends ?
