Digital Desk: A fraudster, a conman has been arrested by the Bhangaagarh police, Following an investigation , the accused Dipjyoti Bora resident of Lahowal Dibrugarh , was apprehended from his rented apartment in geetanagar, Guwahati.
For a long time, Dipjyoti Bora targeted divorced wealthy women and spinsters, scamming them by pretending to love them. Bora used several dating apps to establish contact with victims, and introduced himself as Bitu Sen, and also claimed to be an employee of Oil India. After winning victims' trust he manipulated them emotionally and financially.
How the Scam Worked:-
Dipjyoti Bora targeted wealthy divorcees and older women
He impersonated an employee of Oil India while creating fake profiles for his fraudulent activities.
Through dating apps, he built relationship with his victims
After gaining the trust of his victims, he proceeded to extracted money ranging from ₹5 lakh and extending up to 22 lakh from each victim.
Under the disguise of marriage, he obtained ₹22 lakh from his victim.
He even legally married one of his victims before scamming her out of ₹22 lakh.
Extent of the Fraud:-
More than 10 women have fallen prey to his schemes.
He scammed and looted around ₹45 lakh to ₹50 lakh.
He maintained three rented properties across different parts of Guwahati, however he have no permanent address in Guwahati
He used a luxurious Hyundai Alcazar (AS01-FK-3237) to seduce women but the police ultimately confiscated it.
Arrest & Investigation:-
The Bhangaagarh police have launched an extensive investigation
Bhangaagarh police have seized four phones belonging to Dipjyoti Bora.
Several of his victims have come forward and filed formal complaints
The police has suspected that Dipjyoti Bora deceived several more women despite his recent arrest bringing relief tomany. Additionally the investigation remains underway and the authorities push victims who have not yet come forward to do so.
