Guwahati : One of the state’s leading educational institution Cotton University’s students have declared 48 hours of sit in protest boycotting Lok Sabha elections. The students observed protest on March 28, today, early morning raising slogans against Lok Sabha Elections.
For failing to fulfill many promises made by the present government, the student body took this decision to boycott the elections altogether.
The students sat in front of the university gate protesting against the BJP government’s unfulfilled promises. Of all the unfulfilled demands, few of the demands enlisted are- more girls hostel, provisionalisation of BCA, appointment of more professors, development of mass communication and Bio technology departments of Cotton University.

One of the students even mentioned, “We all are standing together for the upliftment and welfare of our institution and have been requesting for the fulfillment of the demands for a very long time. But the government has been neglecting our demands, hence we are forced to take this tough decision of entirely boycotting elections. Of the total 4000 students, only 3 hostels are available for female students. Apart from this there are many teaching posts lying vacant and no appointments being made till yet.”
The students were sitting carrying placards with quotes and statements like- “My nation my vote my issue”, “no girls hostel, no vote, “No funds no vote” etc.
