New Delhi/Nalbari : A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan hailing from Kamalpur located in Rangia in Kamrup rural district of Assam succumbed to his injuries at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi on May 13th, 2019. He was injured after Maoist rebels exploded a series of IEDs in Seraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand state on May 29th, 2019.
The CRPF jawan identified as Sunil Kalita was a constable in the 209 CoBRA regiment. Kalita tied the knot two months back.
A total of 26 CRPF and Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) personnel were injured in the Maoist attack where altogether 15 IEDs were exploded. The explosion occurred when the security personnel were patrolling in a hilly forested area lying between Riding and Rar Sindri villages.
The gunfights between the Maoists rebels and the security forces continued for almost an hour on May 29th, 2019 and when it ended, the injured security personnel were flown to Ranchi in helicopters.
It may be mentioned, another CRPF jawan, Nirod Sarma from Nalbari district was killed in a terror attack in Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir on June 12th, 2019.
The mortal remains of Sarma were flown to the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) airport in Guwahati on June 13th, 2019 and later it was taken to his native village in Nalbari’s Dhakuakhana where he was laid to rest with full state honours.
