Sonowal also urged the All Assam Students’ Union, Asom Gana Parishad to cooperate in implementation of Clause 6 of the historic 1985 Assam Accord.
While speaking at the state-level Silpi Divas celebration in Darrang on Thursday, he said, “I, being the son of the soil, will under no circumstances allow my government to harm the interests of the indigenous people of the state.”
He added, “A section of vested interests is trying to create disturbance in the state by spreading misinformation that 1.90 crore Bangladeshis will get citizenship following the implementation of the Bill.”
“In today’s age of science and technology, the people should be motivated by reason and rationality instead of being guided by emotions. I urge the people of Assam to use their rational bent of mind rather than following everything on emotional constraints,” he said.
