"Don't sacrifice cows on Eid as Hindus consider it as their mother": Badruddin Ajmal to Muslims

Moreover, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind also urged the Muslims in Assam not to sacrifice cows on Eid.

Digital Desk: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) head Badruddin Ajmal has appealed to the Muslim community in Assam not to perform 'Qurbani' of cows during the upcoming Eid on July 10. The Lok Sabha MP asked the people of his community to abstain from killing cows as Hindus regard the animal as their mother.

"People from many different communities, ethnicities, and religions live in India. Most Indians follow the Sanatan religion, which worships the cow as a sacred symbol. Hindus consider the cow to be a mother," he said.

While asking Muslims not to slaughter cows during Eid, the AIUDF president claimed that Islam prohibits the killing of any animal.

Ajmal also asserted that two years ago, Darul Uloom Deoband had similarly urged people to abstain from conducting animal sacrifices during Eid.

Moreover, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind also urged the Muslims in Assam not to sacrifice cows on Eid.

In response to the AIUDF chief's remarks, Vinod Bansal, the leader of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), said that while he supported the appeal, Muslim leaders should make a similar request ot the minority community to stop permanently killing cows.

Bansal also urged the leaders, including the AIUDF, to take action against those who are killing innocent people in the name of jihad.

The Assam Cattle Preservation Bill, 2021, was passed by the Himanta Biswa Sarma government in 2021, which restricts the sale and purchase of beef in locations other than those authorized by appropriate authorities.

The law prohibits a person from slaughtering cattle unless he has obtained the required certificate from a registered veterinary officer in a specific area.
