Guwahati : Assam’s heartthrob and singing sensation of Assam Zubeen Garg trained guns on BJP regarding the contentious Citizenship Bill. He once again reiterated is stand on the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill by stating that he will continue to oppose the Bill “under any circumstances”.
It may be mentioned that on April 8th, 2019, the ruling BJP released its 48 page manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the manifesto, the BJP stated that the party is committed to the enactment of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, which rocked the Northeastern region, for the protection of individuals of religious minority communities from neighbouring countries escaping persecution, if voted to power.

Reacting on BJP’s stand the singer said, “If the BJP is voted to power, they are determined to pass the Bill and if the Bill comes into enactment, situation in the state will deteriorate because we are not backing down. We will continue our fight against the Bill. If a situation arises I will fight against the Bill alone under any circumstance.”
Ever since the Citizenship Bill has been raised in the Parliament, Garg has been vocal about his stand on Bill staging protests. He had even written an open letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
