Digital Desk: This is the first time in Assam that the Trans community has opened a Tea stall named Tran-Tea-Stall; it gives a brave example to society and shows how empowered our Trans Community is.

Trans Tea Shop, a tea stall in the Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Office in the Guwahati compound, opened on Monday.

The All Assam Transgender Association put up the tea shop in partnership with the Kamrup (M) District Administration to empower the state's trans community and assist them in learning entrepreneurial skills.

As the first trans judge of Assam and third in India, Swati Bidhan Baruah, the founder of All Assam Transgender Association, said, "This tea stall aims to empower the trans community of Assam and help them learn entrepreneurial as well as business communication skills."

Swati also later added to her statement that "It will also help the community have a better income source."

Two transgender members of the association run the stall with the assistance of two volunteers.

Swati stated, "Initially, customers will get tea, snacks, and other packaged food items. They will add more such items based on the response of the customers. We hope to get a good response as the DC office witnesses a lot of footfall daily."
