Guwahati: Train services across the state have remained suspended due to floods. Kopili and Diphu rivers have submerged several adjoining areas in concerned districts. Several rail services have been suspended in this regard.
On the occasion of Diwali itself, NF Railway have suspended the functioning of at least 9 trains , along with changing the routes of others. The suspended trains include Dibrugarh-Guwahati Jan Shatabdi Express, Mariani-Dimapur Passenger train and Guwahati-Naharalagun train.
Meanwhile, floods have taken a devastating turn in Dhansiri sub-division under Golaghat district. Dhansiri waters have flooded various regions including Sarupathar, Borpathar, Naojan, Sungajan and others. The flood waters have damaged crops and property alike, forcing villagers to take recluse in shelter homes.
It is to be noted that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked the district administration to take stock of the situation as well as provide relief materials to the flood-affected people. CM Sonowal asked two of his ministers Keshav Mahanta and Sumo Ronghang to take stock of the situation. Rescue operation by NDRF and SDRF are being carried out in the region.
