Morigaon : With vote counting underway in any parts of Assam, the flower garland shopkeepers are facing a mega boom in the sale of their garlands with demand rising in most districts of the state.

Garland sale soar
The vote counting is underway at the Morigaon College where the sale of garlands is touching a new high.
The supporters of different political parties have made a beeline outside the counting rooms with flower garlands and ‘gamusas’ to felicitate the winners.

Vote counting underway, garland sale soar
Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, Majuli, Golaghat, Nagaon, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Morigaon, Kamrup (Metro) and Kamrp (rural) districts went to polls in the first phase.
Garland sale soar in Morigaon
In the second phase, ten districts went to the polls – Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, Goalpara, Cachar, Hailakandi, Karimganj and Hojai.

82 per cent voting was recorded in the two-phase elections. More than 78,000 candidates are in the fray in the polls.
