"Lao kha, bengena kha, bachare bachare bari ja" echoes the celebration painted the perfect picture of Assam's timeless traditions
Digital Desk:In today’s fast-changing times, both urban and rural areas seem to abandon the Goru Bihu celebration in its traditional form as they adopt modern changes in contemporary times. Modern farming tools such as tractors replaced ploughing bulls, while dairy breed companies introduced Amul Taaza to replace traditional farming cows.
However, on the other side the Garukhunda Fishery Development Committee based in Borchala, Morigaon district took a moving step to honor cultural heritage through the traditional celebration of Goru Bihu at Garukhunda Beel a wetland.
On the pretext of celebration, elderly farmers who spent their lives working on agricultural fields and caring for cattle. Committee President Palash Pator and Secretary Pranjal Pator led the celebration which gathered residents of the area during a festive event.
The air is filled with festive spirit throughout Assam as Bohag month started bringing the traditional food including doi, chira, and pitha. The traditional Bihu chant "Lao kha, bengena kha, bosore bosore bari ja" created the ideal scene to display Assam's enduring cultural heritage.
