    As per an order issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, the restrictions will be enforced from June 22 till June 26, 2022.

    Digital Desk: Ambubachi Mela is all set to start on Wednesday, and ahead of this, the Guwahati Traffic Police has announced a set of traffic restrictions to ensure smooth vehicular movement.

    The Ambubachi Mela is scheduled to be held from June 22 to June 26.

    As per an order issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, the restrictions will be enforced from June 22 till June 26, 2022.

    The order read, "To ensure the safety of the public, especially vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled persons on the road, and to give free passage to emergency vehicles like ambulances, fire tenders etc, the following restrictions on the movement of vehicles shall be imposed during the period of Ambubachi Mela, 2022, to be held from 22nd June to 26th June 2022." 

    The following are the restrictions listed in the order:

    1. Except for the ferry car, vehicles associated with essential services, and a few vehicles of Kamakhya temple and residents authorized by the District Administration, no vehicles shall be allowed to enter from Kamakhya foothill towards Kamakhya temple from June 22nd to June 26th.

    2. Inter-district and long-distance buses are not permitted.

    3. Heavy, medium, and small commercial vehicles transporting goods are not permitted to operate on DG Road or MG Road.

    4. Vehicles coming from Bharalamukh side towards Kamakhya gate will drop devotees near Kamakhya gate and move towards Adabari and will park at Boripara Field.

    5. The vehicles coming from the Maligaon side towards the Kamakhya gate will drop the devotees near the Kamakhya gate and will move towards Bharalumukh.

    6. Vehicles are not permitted to use the newly constructed road from Pandu Temple Ghat.

    Moreover, the Kamrup Deputy Commissioner’s office also issued a few instructions for the smooth conduct of the Ambubachi Mela.

    • Only organizations with District Administration permission are allowed to provide drinking water from the foothills to Maa Kamakhya Temple.
     
    •The District Administration may authorise organisations to serve drinking water only along the road from the Foothills to Maa Kamakhya Devalaya in the zones designated to them. This approach will not allow dry meals or biscuits.
