Guwahati’s Arman Ali has been appointed as the executive director of the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP). He would assume charge from October 1.
The NCPEDP is a cross-disability, non-profit organization, working as an interface between the government, industry, international agencies, and the voluntary sector towards empowerment of persons with disabilities.
Ali’s appointment was announced during a National Disability Consultation on the Rights with disability in New Delhi on Friday.
Ali is the executive director of Shishu Sarothi, the Centre for Rehabilitation and Training for Multiple Disability since 2009. He played a pivotal role in bringing he disability sector together in the North East.
Ali took the lead to form a network of organisations from the seven states, leading campaigns and engaging the judiciary to uphold the rights of persons with disabilities.
It may be mentioned, Ali was called a ‘Pakistani’ by a group of men for not standing up during the National Anthem in Guwahati theatre.
