    Chief Minister further encouraged people to make a resolution to make society greener on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

    Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday flagged off a bicycle rally in support of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav festivities honoring India's 75th anniversary of independence. 

    The rally was organized by Ashok Sarma, the chairman of the Assam Plantation Crops Development Corporation Limited.

    Chief Minister Dr. Sarma also planted a seedling on the grounds of Assam Plantation Crops Development Corporation Limited to coincide with the occasion.

    Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma thanked Ashok Sarma and others for organizing the bike rally and advised rally participants to increase awareness of the negative effects of environmental degradation and the behaviors that people should encourage to conserve nature while traveling.

    He added that the issue of global warming has grown significantly in light of the declining forest cover. He urged the populace to plant additional saplings and take action to ensure their survival in light of this.
    The Chief Minister also asked the Cycle Rally participants to spread the word of independence and aid in instilling a sense of patriotism in the younger generation.

    The Chief Minister also urged the populace to adopt a resolution to make society more environmentally friendly on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

    He added that the era of the country's journey toward the 100th year of its independence has been designated as "Amrit Kal" at the conclusion of the 75th year of India's freedom.

    Earlier, on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma took part in a Prabhat Pheri with school and college students and others to mark the start of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

    The procession began at Kamrup Academy School, where every student carried a National Flag, and proceeded through Guwahati Club, Ambari, Dighalipukhuri, and other neighborhoods, chanting Vande Mataram, which echoed throughout the city.

    The Chief Minister thanked the students for their spontaneous participation, which contributed to the success of the "morning march."

    Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Education Advisor Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta, and a slew of other dignitaries were in attendance.
