Guwahati : Assam’s Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lined up his “marathon helicopter rally” for the Lok Sabha Elections and will be kick-starting his poll campaign in Assam from March 31st, 2019.
He will address seven election rallies across Assam on March 31st, 2019- April 1st, 2019. Sarma, known for his fiery orator skills, will address rallies at Batadrava, Dergaon, Tingkhong, Lahowal, Margherita and Sarupathar.
Speculations were made of Himanta Biswa Sarma will be fighting for LS elections from Tezpur constituency. But Amit Shah put all speculations to rest by mentioning in a series of tweets on March 21st, 2019 issuing a clarification justifying the decision and said that it was taken in the best interests of the party and the state of Assam.
Accepting the decision, Sarma said in a series of tweets that the party “entrusting him with responsibilities is an achievement of a simple karyakarta like him.” His close aide and Assam Tea Tribes Welfare Minister Pallab Lochan Das was given ticket from the Tezpur seat.
Sarma on march 23rd, 2019 said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies will win “minimum” 10 seats in Assam and between 19 and 20 seats out of the Northeast’s 25 Lok Sabha seats. He also said the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will win the Lok Sabha polls with a better margin than in 2014.
