Digital Desk: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde worshipped at the Kamakhya Devi temple in Assam's Guwahati on Saturday, joined by Shiv Sena MPs and MLAs as well as BJP leaders.

Shinde's visit comes just five months after he led an uprising against Uddhav Thackeray and struck an alliance with the BJP to become Chief Minister.

Shinde last visited the temple in June, when staying at a five-star hotel in Guwahati with dissident Sena and Independent legislators who had vowed their support for him. According to reports, he had promised to return to the temple to "show appreciation to the Goddess for blessing them and achieving their vow of forming the government."

"The first time we travelled, we were invited by Assam's Chief Minister." But we were in a hurry and couldn't. We are now proceeding in accordance with the Chief Minister of Assam's invitation. We pray that good days will come to the state's farmers, that the people of Maharashtra will be pleased, and that there will be no problems in the state... "We have no other purpose than to pray for the people of the state," Shinde stated as he was departing Mumbai.

Shinde was escorted by all state legislators except six MLAs and one MP. MLAs Chandrakant Patil, Mahendra Dalvi, and Sanjay Gaikwad Gulabrao Patil, Abdul Sattar, Tanaji Sawant, and MP Shrirang Barne decided not to join Shinde to Guwahati. They clarified that they were unable to join Shinde due to prior commitments.

MP Ravindra Chavan and party leader Mohit Kamboj were among the BJP politicians present with Shinde. His family members were also present.

The crew is anticipated to stay at the Radisson Blu hotel, where they were all stationed in June of this year amid the Shiv Sena defection.

Shinde is also likely to meet with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
