A 40 year old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife whose body was found in an unused old toilet pit in Lekhapani, Tinsukia.
According to Lekhapani police, Mitra Sarma of Hati camp had murdered his wife Bhum Kumari Sarma (35) on Saturday and buried the dead body in an unused old toilet pit and covered the area with hay, soil and dry leaves.
A case (No 87/2018) has been registered against the murderer husband at the Lekhapani Police Station in Tinsukia under IPC Sec 302/201.
Within 24 hours of an FIR been lodged in the police station, the police officials cracked the murder mystery and apprehended the culprit on Sunday eveninig.
As per reprots, the deceased Bhum Kumari was attacked with sharp weapons as can be seen on her dead body.
The Lekhapani police team visited the spot and recovered the dead body from the toilet pit on Sunday. The reason behind is yet to be ascertained by the police officials. Further interrogation is taking place in the police station to ascertain Mitra’s reasons for murdering his wife in such a heinous way.
