Jonai (Dhemaji) : Man-elephant conflict continues to rise in Assam. Wild elephants have been creating havoc in Jonai in Dhemaji district of Assam, destroying people’s dwellings as well as paddy crops grown through hard work by farmers.
As per news reports, a herd of four wild elephants destroyed not only grains but also banana trees, areca trees, etc in huge numbers in a village under the district. The attack by wild elephants have left the people of the village spending sleepless nights.
On the other hand, the elephants even attack the people who try to drive them away. Till the filing of this report, there was no initiative taken by the Wildlife Department that left inhabitants of the locality angered due to the sheer laziness of the officials of the department.
