Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, Darrang unit has dashed off a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against local BJP MLA Gurujyoti Das.
The Congress stated that by adopting “cash-for-job” method, five family members of the local BJP MLA secured appointment “by manipulating” the examination conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).
Das’ wife Leena Das, sisters-in-law Nirmali Das and Shikha Rani Das and brothers-in-law Bhargav Moni Das and Monideep Das are Assam Government’s gazette officers.
Both Bhargav and Monideep are posted in Udalguri respectively where the former is a DSP and the later posted as Treasury officer.
The memorandum was submitted to Modi via the Mangaldoi deputy commissioner on July 19.
In the memorandum submitted to PM Modi, Kabir stated, “Many officers appointed by the APSC has been arrested and interrogated. We are satisfied with the investigation and have an idea that nobody can escape from the scam irrespective of any political interference.”
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president and Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, Ripun Bora demanded the resignation of Tezpur BJP MP RP Sharma, whose daughter Pallavi was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the cash-for-jobs scam in the APSC.
