Manned Signal Points will be replaced by Digital Traffic Lights in Guwahati

Traffic at the junctions will be controlled by digital lights, and CCTV cameras will record any violations of the law by cars.

    Digital
    Desk:
Residents of Guwahati will no longer be able to witness traffic police
manning traffic signal points at junctions as of right now.

    The
Assam Police have made the decision to gradually remove all traffic officers
from intersection signal points beginning on August 15, 2022. But starting
today, it will be rigidly followed.

    The
Paltan Bazar to Khanapara section of GS Road will initially have the traffic
officers manning the signal points removed and replaced with modern CCTV
    cameras and digital traffic lights.

Traffic at the junctions will be
controlled by digital lights, and CCTV cameras will record any violations of
    the law by cars.

    Violators will immediately receive a
    fine via an E-Challan.

    There
are now 21 such digital traffic systems installed along the GS Road, and they
will start operating on August 15, 2022.

    After
this new project is successfully implemented, comparable computerized traffic
systems will be installed all throughout the city within three months, leaving none
of the city's traffic signal sites manned.
