Guwahati : While the entire Northeast is gearing up for PM Modi ji’s visit on February 8th and 9th, 2019, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) stated that they will take out a massive protest against PM Modi and will burn his effigy across the state on the day of the his arrival.
AASU to burn PM Modi’s effigy on February 9, 2019
PM Modi will be visiting Assam to lay the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here in Changsari.
Addressing the media here, AASU President Dipankar Kumar Nath said, “On Friday (February 9th, 2019), the AASU activists will burn the effigies of Modi across various districts of the state. We are against his visit to the Northeast as he is against the interests of the people of the region.”
AASU to intensify protest against CAB
“We have been vocal about our stand on the Bill. We have been raising this Bill issue since long. But Modi is not paying any heed to our demands and instead, his government is adamant on passing the Bill at the Rajya Sabha. Until the Bill, we will continue to protest against it,” he added.
While firebrand KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi along with other protesting bodies will observe the day of Modi’s visit to Assam as a ‘black day’ Gogoi said.
