    Diesel was subject to a tax of 5% or Rs 4 per litre, whichever was higher. According to him, it has been changed to 5% or Rs 5.50 per litre, whichever is higher.

    "As you may know, Assam has increased the price of petrol and diesel. The state government in this area adjusts its rates for petrol and diesel to correspond with this and profits from the price discrepancy. Sangma stated on Wednesday that after the cabinet approved the changes."

    As a result, the cost of petrol in Shillong would be 96.83 and in Byrnihat it would be 95.1. According to him, diesel would cost 83.5 rupees per litre in Byrnihat and 84.72 rupees in Shillong.

    The cabinet also approved a proposal to extend the Second National Judicial Pay Commission's (SNJPC) authority to decide on judicial officers' pay structures, including post-retirement benefits and allowances for all categories.

    The cabinet also approved an Education Department proposal to amend the Directorate of Educational Research and Training Service Rules, 2012.
