A leader belonging to Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) was allegedly stabbed to death by an unidentified miscreant with a Kukri. The BPF leader was an ally of CM Sarbananda Sonowal-led Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) government of Assam.
Ganesh Namoh Das (40), BPF Chapar Nagar Committee president, was allegedly hacked to death with a kukri by one Chakradhar Singh, who is as per sources an illegal liquor seller. Singh is a resident of Kharida, Gossaigaon.
The kukri or khukuri is a Nepalese knife with an inwardly curved blade, similar to a machete, used as both a tool and as a weapon in Nepal.
As per reports, at around 10:30 am on Monday, Das left home to meet Singh at his home. Following a heated verbal duel, Singh reportedly attacked Das with a Kukri on his neck and abdomen and fled from the spot.
The locals rushed to the Chapar FRU Hospital in a serious condition. He was further Bongaigaon Lower Assam Hospital. Upon reaching Bongaigaon, the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
On the other hand, under the leadership of Chapar Nagar Samiti Ward Commissioner Mizanur Rahman, a group of boys caught Singh and intimated the Chapar police.
But before the police could reach the place, the locals had beaten up Singh black and blue, according to information.
Chapar Police successfully managed the crowd and handed Singh over to Bilashipara police.
