Nagaon : Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain has received a summon from Nagaon’s CJM court for the alleged rape of 24 year old woman.
The Court has asked Rajen Gohain to appear before the court on January 8, 2019 for being named as the prime accused in the rape case. The summon was issued on November 28.
It may be mentioned that one married woman from Nagaon has filed a rape and sexual exploitation FIR against Gohain. The FIR was reportedly filed on August 1, however, the incident came to light on August 10. The 24 year old married woman, who lodged the FIR, stated that she and her younger sister was lured with a job offer in the Railways and both of them were sexually exploited by the Minister.
In August this year, a case under IPC Sections 417 (punishment for cheating), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was registered against Gohain.
Gohain had earlier said that he is a victim of political conspiracy.
Gohain, who has been representing the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency since 1999, had claimed that the victim herself went to the court and wanted to withdraw the case, which was not accepted.
Nagaon Sadar police station officer-in-charge had said that the victim had field the rape case in August and then again went to the court two days after to withdraw the case.
Both Gohain and the victim’s family know each other quite well and the minister was a regular visitor to the house of the victim, as per reports of the Nagaon Police Station.
The minister’s officer on special duty Sanjiv Goswami had then claimed that Gohain had filed some complaints of blackmailing agianst the woman and her family.
