    The footage clearly shows the elephant being continuously beaten with a stick by a mahout.

    The elephant, "Moina" was facing inhuman torture in Nagaon's Chakalaghat Chaulkhowa.

    Fortunately, officials of the Wild Aid Assam, a wildlife conservation organisation in collaboration with the Nagaon Forest Department, rescued the elephant after the incident went viral on social media.

    The two mahouts have been identified as Azarul Islam and Shamsul Haque.

    Wild Aid Assam rescue team included Roop Sharma, Viraj Sharma, Raj Sharma, Pintu Saharia, Abhinav Bora, Bhaskar Bora, and Paul Bora.

    The team was assisted by the forest officer of the Nagaon Forest Division.

    As per report, the elephant's owner is a resident of Doboka, Hojai.
