The construction work of the much-awaited flyover crisscrossing the existing flyover at crowded Ganeshguri point is likely to start from November this year.
This will be the second flyover in the Ganeshguri area and is expected to ease traffic congestion to a great extent. The flyover, which is a one-of-its kind in the Northeast region, will be 1.35 kilometers long. The flyover would stretch from Ganesh Mandir in Dispur to Nursery bus stoppage on RG Barua Road by crisscrossing the existing Ganeshguri flyover.
As per information, the plannings and preparations for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) are going on in full swing and is expected to be completed by August. The Assam government has engaged RITES Ltd to prepare the DPR, as per reports.
Once the DPR is ready, the state government will start the tendering process through advertisements, following which the total budget and other logistics of the flyover would be estimated.
It may be mentioned that a private company from Kolkata, Arch tech Consultancy Pvt Ltd is conducting the soil tests on the RBG road near Nursery, following which the foundation, pillar, drilling, loading capacity works for the flyover will be examined.
Sources informed that the soil testing procedure is likely to be completed in the next two months. The team will then submit the report to the state government.
Post the soil testing procedure, digging activities to erect concrete pillars would be undertaken.
