Netizens in full support of Major Leetul Gogoi
Netizens on social media sites came out in full support of Army Major Leetul Gogoi, who was detained by Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday from Hotel Grand Mamta in Srinagar with a local woman.
Gogoi, who grabbed headlines for tying a civilian to the bonnet of his vehicle in Badgam district last year on the Lok Sabha Poll, was later taken to the police station from where he was handed over to his unit.
Following the row at the hotel, major Gogoi is now trending on Twitter.

As per reports, IGP (Kashmir) S P Pani has ordered a probe and appointed SP North City Sajad Ahmad Shah as the inquiry officer.
Pani told media that there was a room booked in the name of Leetul Gogoi and the altercation started when a couple, who came to meet Gogoi, was not allowed to enter the hotel. Pani also stated that the girl was an adult.
On the other hand, as per the hotel staff members, Major Gogoi booked a room online, for one night and two guests, and presented his driving license as identity proof. The woman submitted her Aadhar card, where the date of birth on her Aadhar card was 2001. The hotel staff told as per hotel policy, they do not give accommodation to locals, especially when it is a boy and girl.

Hotel staff further said that after Major Gogoi left, he came back again with his Kashmiri driver. The driver shouted at their relationship manager and started beating people, following which the hotel called the police.
Major Leetul Gogoi hailing from Namrup in Assam belongs to the 53 Rashtriya rifles. He is a recipient of the Indian Army chief’s ‘commendation card’ for his ‘sustained efforts’ in counter0insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Gogoi had tied a civilian Farooq Ahmad Dar in Budgam district during Srinagar Parliamentary elections in April last year which had led to much controversy.
