Guwahati : NRC coordinator of Assam, Prateek Hajela confirmed today that no NRC hearings will be held on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, putting rest to rumors that some people would have to attend the hearings even on the day of the holy festival.
No NRC hearing during Eid
While addressing a presser in Guwahati , NRC State Coordinator Prateek Hajela said that some people have spread romors and the notices and schedules have been announced a long time back.
Prateek Hajela has confirmed that the 5th of June, i.e., the day of Eid is not being scheduled for any hearing.
“We have not scheduled any hearings on Eid-ul-Fitr. We will inform the same through our social media platforms as well. It is completely true that we have not scheduled any hearings for the day,” Hajela said.
With the NRC final list declaration date nearing, the controversies surrounding the process is increasing on a regular basis. There are many lodged in detention centres of Assam who even after provided all necessary documents to prove their nationality of being an Indian have been languishing behind the bars due to mistaken identity.
