Sumi was a wanted accused with a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his arrest by NIA in the case of the killing of 18 soldiers in Manipur in June 2015.
Digital Desk: The ceasefire agreement currently in effect between the Centre and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Niki Sumi group has been extended for another year.
"It was decided to extend the ceasefire deal with the NSCN (K) Niki for a period of one year with effect from September 8, 2022, to September 7, 2023," the union home ministry stated in a statement.
The Central Government signed a one-year ceasefire agreement with the NSCN (K) Niki faction last year after over 200 cadres of the outfit, armed with 83 weapons, joined the peace process.
The agreed-upon ground rules for a cease-fire were also signed.
The Centre has already signed a ceasefire deal with the NSCN-IM, as well as ceasefire treaties with the NSCN (NK), NSCN(R), and NSCN (K)-Khango.
Sumi was a wanted suspect with a reward of Rs 10 lakh upon his apprehension by the National Investigation Agency in the matter of the June 2015 killing of 18 soldiers in Manipur's Chandel region.
