Singer Angarang Papon Mahanta arrived on Sunday in Guwahati for a public event along with his wife for a special programme under the “Operation Smile”. This is the maiden public appearance of the singer in Assam after the kissing controversy that shook the entire nation.
Speaking to the media, Papon, reacting on the POCSO case registered against him in connection with the kissing controversy, said that he has full faith in the Indian Judiciary system and hope to get a positive result from the law system. His wife too stated the same and said that they have full faith that the right decision will be taken.
Papon also showed his complete support for singer Zubeen Garg on the ongoing controversy regarding the latter’s comment on the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Speaking exclusively in support of Zubeen Garg and that politician Shiladitya Dev’s comment against the artist is completely futile and illogical as artist are too part of this large democratic country and that they too have the right to voice their rights and issues related to motherland.
Meanwhile, Papon also assured that people of Assam will soon get to see him on Bihu stages and he has been missing from the Bihu scene only because of some prior commitments. Papon is in Guwahati for a special programme as part of “Operation Smile” and was also accompanied by Priyanka Yoshikawa, Miss World Japan.
