Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit in Guwahati in the presence of several political leaders, big business tycoons, and business delegates from various countries across the world.
Addressing the investment summit, PM Modi termed it as a "great campaign to connect the whole world with the potential and progress of the northeastern state".
He said, "The land of Eastern India and the Northeast is going to start a new future today."
"Advantage Assam is a mega campaign to connect the entire world with the potential and progress of Assam. History is witness that even earlier Eastern India had a huge role in the prosperity of India. Today, when India is moving towards development, once again our North East is going to show its strength," he added.
Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani pledged to invest Rs 50,000 crore in Assam over the next 5 years.
Addressing the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit in Guwahati, Adani Group Founder and Chairman Gautam Adani also promised to invest Rs 50,000 crore in the state.
The summit hosts business delegates from 61 countries including Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Bhutan.
Industry giants such as Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, N Chandrasekaran, Sajjan Jindal, Prashant Ruia, Anil Agarwal, Anil Kumar Chalamalasetty, and others are present at the summit.
Political leaders who are present at the summit include Union Ministers S Jaishankar, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Sarbananda Sonowal, Pabitra Margherita, and others. Road Transports and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari attended the summit virtually to address a session.
