Modi recalled the bravery of Lachit Borphukan and announced plans to build a tribal museum in honor of indigenous leaders.
Digital Desk: Prime Minister Modi used his opening speech to extend his authentic welcoming message in Assamese to the tea workers. He happily continued his visit to Assam thanks to the picturesque landscapes of the tea plantations. Tea workers alone can properly value the worth of tea according to him. During his speech, the prime minister expressed keen interest in the forthcoming Bihu festival preparations because 2023 had set unprecedented success records. Sarma received appreciation from the Prime Minister for his position as chief minister.
Prime Minister Modi began his speech by greeting the tea community with a heartfelt message in Assamese. He expressed great happiness at being present in Assam today, acknowledging the beauty of the tea gardens. He remarked that only tea workers truly understand the value of tea. Reflecting on the record-breaking Bihu celebrations of 2023, Modi said he was eagerly awaiting another remarkable preparation this year. He thanked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his leadership.
The Prime Minister pointed out that cultural recognition of Assam especially the Northeast had been lacking until recently when the Assamese language received official recognition from the government while Choraideu Maidam achieved inclusion on the UNESCO list.
The Prime Minister also honored Lachit Borphukan's brave actions while telling the public about his plans to construct a tribal museum dedicated to native leaders. The Prime Minister emphasized multiple government initiatives like funding support for tea garden female workers and the building of Ayushman Mandir. At his address Modi displayed a strong belief that these plans would achieve their desired outcomes.
“Today, the entire Hindustan is rejoicing as we support 9 lakh pregnant women with ₹15,000. I thank everyone and wish you all the best. We will meet again soon," said PM Modi as he concluded his speech and inaugurated the Jhumur dance performance.
