Guwahati : The founder president of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and former CM of Assam, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta urged the people the state to cast their voted for the candidates who oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. “The Bill would damage Assam’s secular fabric,” said Mahanta on Saturday evening while interacting with the media.
Slamming the BJP government, the former CM said, “Modi had signed the Indo-Bangla land boundary agreement. Although he had said that there will be no infiltrators in Assam if he comes to power in 2014; the CAB has been introduced by his party.”
Unhappy over the alliance of AGP and BJP, Mahanta had earlier announced that he would not campaign for any candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
However, he states that AGP would not take any such step or do any harm to the people of Assam.
Yet the former CM of Assam had asserted he will not campaign for AGP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as he finds there is little chance for AGP to win after they re-joined BJP. He said that AGP had done a grievous mistake by re-joining the BJP who were trying to bring CAB in the state.
