Presidential Election 2022: Droupadi Murmu to meet NDA MPs, MLAs in Assam today
Meanwhile, the leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Badruddin Ajmal, vowed to support Murmu.

Digital Desk: The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Droupadi Murmu, will meet MPs and MLAs of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United Peoples' Party Liberal (UPPL) in Assam on Wednesday.

Murmu arrived in Guwahati late Tuesday night to seek support for the July 18 election.

Murmu was welcomed at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Murmu arrived in Assam from the city of Manipur, Imphal, accompanied by Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

According to PTI's citation of party sources, Murmu will meet with BJP MPs and MLAs as well as members of its coalition partners to solicit support.

The BJP has four MPs in the Rajya Sabha, compared to the AGP and UPPL's one each. In the Lok Sabha, the BJP has nine members.

The 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly now has 78 members of the ruling NDA, 62 members of the BJP, and nine and seven members, respectively, of the NDA's allies, the AGP and UPPL.

Meanwhile, the leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Badruddin Ajmal, vowed to support Murmu.

While the party has 15 MLAs in the state legislature, Ajmal is the only MP for the party in the Lok Sabha.

The former Union minister and joint opposition candidate for the forthcoming presidential election, Yashwant Sinha, will also travel to Assam to seek support from party members there.
